I love covers, this one is one of “our” songs.
I heard Katy Perry’s new song on the radio the other day and it reminded me of the hope I have for Kaylee – that she realizes she is worthy of respect despite how anyone else around makes her feel. And, that sometimes she may be better off not getting everything she things she wants.
Here’s my favorite part:
You don’t have to feel like a waste of space
You’re original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow
Maybe you’re reason why all the doors are closed
So you can open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will blow
And when it’s time, you’ll know
You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July
I stumbled on this CD while searching for more information about the song “Daughter” (listen on YouTube) from the movie Knocked Up. I bought the CD just for that song but quickly found that there isn’t one song on the entire album that I dislike. In fact, I adore most of them. It is filled with thoughtfully simple lyrics and folksy riffs with a hint of rock. It’s quirky, light, and fun. Definitely worth a listen.
And if you haven’t seen Knocked Up, what are you waiting for? It’s quintessential viewing for this generation and one of the better Judd Apatow movies to date.
