We got a call from Grandma and Grandpa while they were out shopping the other day. Target was having a sale on thier play kitchens, they assured us this one was a steal, and before we knew it they were at our door with box in hand. Kaylee has played with it practically every moment we have been home since we put it together.
I have been looking around for a wooden kitchen for a while now and this one is waaaay more pink than I wanted, in fact it’s even girly-er than this out of the box (we turned the backsplash pieces around to hide the cupcakes and hearts), but it’s hard to argue with free. It’s not plastic, and that is a huge bonus, but it’s not exactly wood either. The quality is fair, what I would expect from Circo – one of the pieces didn’t line up quite right and a hole wasn’t completely drilled. It is also pretty light with a high tip factor (it comes with anchors for the wall), but so far it hasn’t been too much of an issue considering Kaylee is still pretty small. It is a nice starting point, and I’m thinking I can always paint it later.
I’m looking forward to the all the potential craft projects from pot holders and aprons to felt play food. I think I’m as excited about this toy as she is 🙂 Her only complaint is that she can’t fit inside the cupboard like she can the one in the real kitchen, but I’m sure she’ll get over it.
